PITBOX USA.
A Shopify migration and design project for a live-fire barbecue brand, featuring branded emails, Judge.me reviews, and GitHub version control.
About the project.
PitBox USA, a barbecue brand founded by backyard pitmaster Ben and his business partner Tom, a world-class industrial designer, set out to fix a problem every smoker knows too well: resting your meat in a cooler is messy, smelly, and far from food-safe. Their answer was PITBOX™, a purpose-built resting box engineered to hold brisket, pork shoulder, and ribs at the right temperature without the plastic, the pork juice, or the pile of ruined towels. Our objective was to give that story a proper home by migrating their storefront from Squarespace to Shopify and building a site that captures the grit and craft of live-fire cooking. The project focused on a clean platform migration, custom theme-based design, email and review integrations, and setting the team up to run the store with confidence well after launch.
Unique Solutions.
Seamless Migration & Storefront Design
We migrated PitBox USA from Squarespace to Shopify, carefully bringing over both their product catalog and their blog content so nothing was lost in the move and the storytelling that fuels the brand carried straight through. From there, we designed and built their new storefront on a Shopify theme, shaping it to reflect the bold, smoke-and-fire personality of PITBOX™ and to keep the founder’s story and the product’s real-world benefits front and center.
Brand-Driven Emails & Customer Reviews
To strengthen every customer touchpoint, we helped set up and refine PitBox’s Shopify emails, including order confirmations and shipping notifications, so each message sounded like the brand instead of a generic default. We also integrated Judge.me to collect and showcase customer reviews, giving new shoppers the social proof and confidence they need before investing in a product designed to replace a ritual they have followed for years.
Scalable Version Control
To protect the technical health of the store and support ongoing development, we connected the storefront’s codebase to GitHub. This gave us a streamlined, secure workflow for tracking every custom change, modification, and new section, ensuring future updates and aesthetic tweaks can be shipped easily and safely without the risk of losing custom functionality.
Team Enablement & Training
Finally, we trained the PitBox team on how to run their new Shopify store day to day, from managing products and content to processing orders and making small updates on their own. This hands-on handoff ensured the founders could confidently own their storefront and keep building on the foundation we put in place.
